Inner Critic, Part VI

Updated: Aug 22, 2024

The inner critic is dynamic. Once you become aware of the messages and influence your inner critic is sharing, you can be empowered by it. Becoming aware of your inner critic can help you navigate what comes next. It gives you alternatives to emotional reactions, and creates a space to become an observer or a witness to the event/situation.

Space or separating the sitiation from your reaction long enough to create a desired response is key. Away to do this is to give your inner critic another job, instead of being a critic, ask it it for positive and creative ways to respond to the situation. Such alternative responses can elevate you and develop greater confidence in your ability to drive a situation instead of being dictated by it. The sentence, “I’ll be better off if you give me positive words to say and feel”.
