Resilience: Building Strong Connections

Updated: Sep 25

Resilience helps to protect you from depression and anxiety. When we create meaningful and trusting relationships with family, friends, or a support group, we insulate ourselves from loneliness and isolation. Therefore, a sense of belonging creates a foundation of emotional stability, personal growth, and well-being. When I feel like I belong, I feel accepted and valued. You?

How do you feel when you fit-in and belong? What do you do for others when you notice they are uncomfortable or anxious? Does reaching out to others make you feel more connected to them?

How about your motivation? Are you more likely or less likely to want to participate in an activity with the same group if you feel like part of the group?

Supportive communities/ groups allow you to take risks and explore your potential in a safe and encouraging way. Mistakes often go unrecognized as mistakes but rather as opportunities to try something different. I hope this week you search out a group or a safe person that makes you feel accepted. I’d love to hear how you knew you were accepted.
